General Barry McCaffrey, the man who murdered Iraqi troops as they were retreating after the cease fire in Gulf War I in the infamous highway of death, now says that airpower is the only means left for the US military in Iraq.
The US military has been defeated on the ground.
This is why you are seeing the indiscriminate bombings of innocent civilians and villages who have nothing to do with the growing resistance.
The US is bombing the civilian population in the hopes that they kill some of the resistance fighters in the process, but all they end up killing are women, children and the elderly.

The US bombardment of civilian population means they are at losing position in every battle fronts. Now, they are at the end of their wits.
Meanwhile, the resistance in this several weeks has increasingly united various of resistance groups successfully in military joint operation against the occupation forces.
This means the establishment of Iraqi People Liberaton Alliance and Army will be annouced at very closely .

This has baffled me from the start.... why are the "resistance" concentrating on humvees and SUV's? It's the air force that will kill them. This "war" just doesn't make sense. Any sensible general would be attacking airfields, not pipelines. What is going on? Duped again....

the iraqi resistance forces are shelling airbases and ive also seen airman listed in the casulties.hitting convoys and pipelines and refineries also deprives in country airpower of fuel ,munitions and electricity as well as food and other supplies of course there are still the carriers but that is less bang for the buck.air power alone cant win this war.all it does is slaughter innocents and increases the numbers of the resistance due to all of the pissed off relatives and friends.

Actually the air forces are the only real strenght the US have
but it is not enough to tame the Resistance and control the country.
Airports are under constant attack but US have ships in the Gulf and bases in Turkey, Kuwait etc.
It seems iraqis are using some anti-aircraft weaponry but probably
they have few and/or it is difficult to carry around and hide it as needed. Remember that during the "no fly zone" years those weapons were bombed systematically.

{ In a savage crime: US aircraft hysterically bomb village, massacring at least 44 Iraqi villagers. }
{ Little Fatimah’s story... }
In the name of God, I can't read these stories anymore. There's a point where you just can't take it anymore.
At first, such stories made me angrier than an injured bear. Now, I've heard so much that if I read them, I get severely depressed.
A human only has a limited capacity for hatred and anger. The USA's crimes pushed me to my max a long time ago.
The only thing I can read now is stories about Usan soldiers getting crushed and burnt - but that offers meager relief.
My belief that the Usans will ultimately get an unimaginably horrible punishment on the day of judgement gives me hope, though.
In the meantime, the heroic Iraqi resistance is doing what few people have been able to do. The Comanche, Philipino Moro island Juremantados, Vietnamese, and Somalians, and some others have shown how great the human spirit can be.
They have shown that the human soul is greater than any plastic and metal the West can create.
That also gives me some hope.

it is even worse in the UK - we have to put up with the BBC and their propaganda as well telling us the Iraqi people are terrorists. AND they are still supporting the totally discredited Tony Blair to the hilt. You should know from Iran's past that BBC is no friend to your country, either.
(But at least BBC World Service has a tiny bit of credibility left after giving Kofi his platform)

I can't take reading about these continuous war crimes anymore without getting a humongous headache. The most chilling thing to me is the absolute lack of interest that most people in my social circle exhibit toward these atrocities. The entire country is in strict denial about what their own sons and daughters are doing to completely innocent people.
Personally, I think that people in the US are afraid to actually 'see' what's happening because of that they would have to acknowledge about their own 'democracy'.

As Americans take in their weekend football games and douse themselves in alcohol and partying, their military murders innocent civilians in a nation that offers us no threat at all . . .never did for that matter. This savagery is the work of heartless men who have no regard for humanity. Their only god is the dollar.
What gets me is the reaction Americans have when hearing about Iraqi civilian deaths(even though these are strictly censured in the mainstream media). The normal ignorant mis-informed American mumbles something about gettig even for 911, still not knowing the the Iraqis had nothing to do with it. American Joe Ignoramass might say we are taking it to the terrorists before they attack us . . . these slaughtered people are not terrorists but innocent civilians like you and I! One thing is for sure, however- the people who are being terrorized are the Iraqis, so I guess that makes the Americans the real TERRORISTS.
God Bless America? I think the more realistic heavenly plea should read "God have mercy on America's soul!".

it is our taxes that support the war machines of our countries. You may take part in antiwar activities; I certainly do. And indeed there is little we can do as individuals to stop this state terrorism. The war in Iraq was a fait accomplit between Blair and Bush back in early 2002. All those protest marches I went on through 2003 may have been good for my own conscience and to show solidarity but didn't make a jot of difference to the decision-making.
What could/should we have done? In retrospect this is what people should have done - after 9/11 they should have gone out onto the streets and told Bush-Blair NO VENGEANCE. This is what the Spanish people did after 3/11 and as a consequence, their country pulled out of the USUK war machine altogether. We, the British people, and the American people, are to blame for not seeing through the propaganda from 9/11 onwards, just as the German people did not see through Hitlers propaganda and allowed the Nazi war machine to roll on and on.

I resent your comparison with Germany. Remember that the Nazis did not muck about, and no matter what colour or class you were, if you opposed the party one iota, you got shipped to a KZ and that's the last anyone ever saw of you.
It is not like that in Britain or even the US at the moment. Middle-class white people can still offer vociferous protest and not get locked up or killed for it.
The level of moral responsibility for USUK citizens is thus correspondingly higher.
In other words, most Germans had a pretty good excuse for not opposing the Nazis ('I don't want to get killed'). We haven't.
The comparison is not apt. I understand why you offer it for rhetorical purposes, but it is not accurate.

Sad to say, but the more we Americans are shown defeat in Iraq, the less likely we will allow another illegal invasion of another country, and the safer the world will be. We are stupid children who have too quickly forgotten the lessons of Vietnam; therefore we require another painful lesson when our economy is wrecked, our young people return broken or dead, our poor die of medical neglect or starvation, and our support from other nations is ended. I am so sad for my government's crimes against the Iraqi peoples, but their victory will in truth be my people's salvation, as well as that of peace-loving people worldwide!

It alienates the only few collaborators with US. The final days are coming sooner.
Iraqi Resistance is honing their expertise and gathering information, hording weapons. Learn the lessons of guerilla wars of history like Vietnam, China, Afganistan, etc. Do not alienate the Iraqi people, and have no mercy to traitors of Iraq. The victory is near. I hope US will get a lethal blow before election in Nov, "October suprise" delivered by Iraqi people and Iraq Resistance.
All Chinese people support the heroic resistance of Iraq!

You say middle-class white people in the US and UK can still offer vociferous protest and not get locked up or killed for it. But only middle-class people. You have noticed that there is a belief in a large segment of the British population that Princess Diana has been murdered in 1997. People are suspicious about the death of Dr David Kelly. But who murdered them, if indeed they have been murdered ? All this exist in the unconscious psyche of the British people and it says : if you go to far or if you are a too much of a nuisance the Establishment may get rid of you with total impunity.

US embarrassing loss of Ryder Cup: "The US players looked on disconsolately, having to wait for the closing ceremonies when they would have rather been in the locker room, well away from an uproarious world that was denied them.
The European supporters' song of choice was the repetitious "Ole, ole, ole, ole" but even that was a more mellifluous sound than the chauvinistic "USA, USA, USA" that was chanted from every stand early on ..." Guardian.uk
I don't follow any competitive sport. But this embarrassing loss for US was sweet for obvious reasons.

this article. I get stick to my stomach. This kinda savage killing of innocent will only bring more resistance. As one poster mentioned, the Americans are arrogant and ignorant assholes. Whether it is white trash, amiddle class guy or a rich guy, everybody is arrogant and rude. One thing that all these people have is they have NO EMOTIOn OR HUMANITY. Not even one iota. I dunno how people can turn into such worthless inhumans.

I'm a 20 year old American female. First of all, I want to say not all Americans are heartless, just the ones that follow Bush and his stupid crackhead ideas. I am disgusted at what this country has done, and from what I hear, Bush wants to reinstate the draft here to include females, which means they're gonna want me to go on their poliltical killing sprees. All I have to say is set me up my jail cell, because I'm not going. I'll tell them right where they can stick it, and I'll even help them get it up there. I've gotten to the point where I'm ashamed to be from the U.S., if this is what it stands for.

What you say may or may not be the case, but still, the point is that a large segment of the populace can cry out and they will not be locked up or killed for it.
Diana and Kelley are special cases. They are not typical. We can speculate that Kelley had dirt on the gov and had to die. Diana had really P.O.'d the Royals - well, annoy powerful people _personally_ and you will get in trouble.
It's not the same thing as middle class whites facing the KZ if they speak out.

First, Saddam was CIA creature.
Second, he was nationalist given the free education and healthcare he provided with his baath party, something U.S. couldn't stand when a country focused on its own interest.
Third, prove that he killed 400,000 muslims (gassed Kurds myth was debunked by U.S military reports).
Fourth, he was set up on Kuwait invasion if you have read the transcript with Ambassador Glaspie in 1990.
Fifth, you need to do a lot of research about the damge U.S government and oligarches did in the entire world since the genocide of American aborigen.

"My belief that the Usans will ultimately get an unimaginably horrible punishment on the day of judgement gives me hope, though."
There is one punishment which America throughly and utterly deserves: Nuclear incinceration of their 200 year old malevolent Empire.
Until that day comes, criminal America will have escaped justice once again.

The comparison with 1930s Germany may not have been like with like, but the principle is the same.
I remember debating with people in the UK who said there must be a flaw in the Germany psyche that they allowed Hitler to rise to almost godlike status, and then worship his policies however abominable. I remember telling them that Germans were no different to British - we would have been sold the dummy in just the same way. I felt I could speak with confidence because I grew up with kids who had a German mother (a member of Hitler youth, who emigrated after the war, and married an Englishman). I got to know her good nature quite well, especially as she showed considerable compassion towards some of my boisterous activities. I also remember when "The Sound of Music" soundtrack was released, and she really excitedly brought it round to the house so we could all share the experience...
My point was... that Edmund Burke's "it only takes for good men to do nothing for evil to prosper" applies to the British people and the good citizens of the USA, Italy, and Australia at this present moment in history as of course it applied to Germany in the 1930s.
Hitlers regime GRADUALLY became a tyranny. Isn't that what's happening at the moment in US & UK? (I'm assuming that Australia will kick Howard out, and Italians will kick Berlusconi out, but Blair (helped with the media) still (frighteningly) has a significant part of Britain mesmerised. And speaking of the media, I should imagine Hitler used the press and radio to help seize control of the nation's thought processes.
By all means read Chomsky, but if you can get a copy also read Reich's "Mass Psychology of Fascism".
