Pakistan court blocks US moves on terror suspects

An alleged Taliban commander Abdullah alias Abu Waqas is presented before the media in Karachi, Pakistan Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010.
Through an all-embracing ruling, a Pakistani court thwarts any potential move by the United States on the terror suspects in Pakistan's custody.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday barred the handing over of any foreigners to the US authorities, a Press TV correspondent reported.
The ruling affected Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, known to have functioned as the second-in-command to Taliban founder Mullah Mohammad Omar, who was arrested by the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
The verdict, as well, prevented the extradition of the five US nationals currently in Pakistani detention for their suspected links with the militants. The five men in their 20s, three of whom are of Pakistani descent, were arrested in a police crackdown in Sargodha area in the eastern Punjab province in December and are believed to have travelled from northern Virginia to Pakistan as a group.
The court also instructed the authorities to prevent the CIA and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from investigating any of the suspects of Washington's so-called war on terror.
